Katyache Bhujane / भुजणं / Fish backbone Stew by Kalpana Talpade / काट्याचे भुजणे
Ingredients : Ghol fish Backbone 1/2
Onion 1
Fresh coriander leaves 1 bunch
Green chillies 2
Garlic 10 to 12
Ginger 2 inches
Turmeric ½ tsp.
Chilly powder 1 ½ tsp.
Oil 4 tblsp.
Water ½ cup
Salt 1 tsp.
Method
1. Clean & wash the fish pieces.
2. The fish pieces are chopped in the market itself. While cutting the fish, meticulous care is taken to not damage the joints, as they contain Spine Fluid.
3. Chop the onion into very thin vertical slices.
4. Wash & cut the coriander leaves.
5. Take a low height vessel and crush the onion & coriander leaves with your fingers.
6. Add oil.
7. Add turmeric pwd., chilly pwd., garlic and ginger paste.
8. Add salt.
9. Add the fish.
10. Add water.
11. Place the vessel on fire with a water lid & give it a 5 mins. boil.
12. The Katya che bhuzna is ready to be eaten.
